Washington, D.C. - A veteran-owned company promises to make a big impact at the 2004 Interagency Disability Educational Awareness Showcase (IDEAS) to be held at the Washington Convention Center on Nov. 2nd and 3rd. Veteran-owned and information technology firm Intercon Associates will feature its latest software product, Accessible FormNet™, which has revolutionized the ability to provide accessibility and usability to electronic forms.

More than 1 in 5 Americans has a disability. With that in mind, the Federal government passed the Workplace Investment Act of 1998, which strengthened Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act. The strengthened Section 508 requires Federal agencies to provide access to and use of electronic and information technology by individuals with disabilities.

IDEAS 2004 is a two-day educational conference and showcase focusing on the Section 508 education, policy and technology initiatives facing the government community. InterconAssociates will participate in the showcase, in booth # 903, and will feature its Accessible FormNet™ technology.

Accessible FormNet™ makes it easier for businesses and individuals to access and use electronic forms. The software’s unique "Scripting for Accessibility" function enables people who are blind or visually impaired to access and use these electronic forms as well.

From the start, the software was designed with the user in mind – both sighted and visually impaired. In fact, blind and visually impaired Federal employees from the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Education and the 508 Council were key members of the design team assembled by Intercon.

Accessible FormNet™ is already in use by numerous Federal agencies, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).
