Rochester, NY based Intercon Associates Inc., announces that it has signed a three year agreement with Per-Se Technologies to make Intercon Prescription Warning Label Software available to Per-Se customers who use their PharmacyRx, EnterpriseRx, Zadall and Condor pharmacy management applications. This technology enables pharmacies to print genuine Intercon prescription warning labels and barcodes without the need for traditional laser printer flash memory cards.
Today, most pharmacies print prescription warning labels and barcodes by utilizing custom programmed, printer resident flash memory cards such as SIMMs, DIMMs, Daughter Cards or CompactFlash. The downside of this technology is that these memory devices are printer specific, often requiring pharmacies to purchase new cards when they purchase new printers. Also, updating these cards with the latest warning label messages is time consuming and can be technologically challenging. This results in many pharmacies not updating which translates to patients not receiving the best warning label information.
The solution is Intercon Prescription Warning Label Software which is integrated with your pharmacy management software and delivers the most accurate and up-to-date solution. Intercon Prescription Warning Label Software can easily be maintained to keep up with the new warning label messages published by First Databank and Wolters Kluwer Health (MediSpan). Simple file updates ensures that warning labels are kept current.
"The time is right," says Mark Basta, President of Intercon’s Rx Division. "Not only is the industry ready for this solution due to the accumulating problems and cost associated with warning label cards, but additional printer manufacturers are preparing to enter the retail pharmacy market with laser and thermal printing technology solutions. This will intensify the logistical problems already experienced by pharmacy IT departments in supporting prescription warning labels."
According to Mr. Basta, "I am confident we have the best product due to our understanding of this technology, its requirements and our many years of experience in retail pharmacy. Intercon was the first company to develop electronic warning labels in 1992. When you combine this knowledge and experience with our in-house programming and support staff, Intercon is the best company to provide value with a product that works."
